Kyle Johnson

Partner, Rail, Logistics & Risk Management Leader – Complex Risk

Kyle serves as Partner, Rail, Logistics & Risk Management Leader, at Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc. (JDIMI), bringing over 15 years of experience in risk management with a focus on the transportation and energy sectors. Prior to joining the firm, he spent more than a decade with Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway (CPKC), where he led the development and delivery of Insurance, Enterprise, and Contractor Risk Management across the company’s North American operations in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, including oversight of its captive insurance company.

During his tenure, Kyle played a pivotal role in mergers and acquisitions, most notably contributing to the successful acquisition of Kansas City Southern Railway, which achieved significant cost synergies. Recognized for his strategic insight and innovative leadership, Kyle developed risk financing strategies that enhanced organizational resilience and long-term value creation. In 2019, he was honored with the CPKC CEO Award of Excellence for his contribution to advancing cost control initiatives.

A strong advocate for collaboration, Kyle believes that building trusted relationships with stakeholders is fundamental to managing risk effectively and achieving sustainable success.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Kyle has served as President of the American Association of Railroads (AAR) Risk Insurance Management Association, as a Director with the Alberta RIMS Chapter (SARIMS), and is a qualified Railcar Inspector, reflecting his deep technical expertise and hands-on understanding of the rail industry. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Mount Royal University in Calgary, is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) with the Insurance Institute of Canada, and holds the Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) designation from the Global Risk Management Institute.
